Uzmetcombinat ups steel production in January-September

The Uzbek Metallurgical Plant (Uzmetcombinat) increased steel output by 0.7 percent in January-September of 2010 up to 582,200 tons compared to the same period of 2009, the company said.

According to the company data, the production of ferrous metal roll rose by 0.8 percent to 558,400 tons in the report period.

As reported earlier, Uzmetcombinat increased its steel production by 6.2 percent in 2009 to 716,400 tons.

The company received net income at the size of 22.293 billion soums in 2009, the company's annual report said. Net revenue from sales fell from 467.89 billion soums in 2008 to 445.929 billion soums in 2009, the report noted. Gross income from sales in 2009 made up 98.326 billion soums against 138.451 billion soums in 2008.

Long-term assets rose from 127.105 billion soums in 2008 to 173.715 billion soums, current assets fell from 152.423 billion soums to 147.318 billion soums.

The charter capital of Uzmetkombinat rose from 32.01 billion soums in 2008 to 45.614 billion soums in 2009, the report said.

Uzmetcombinat was commissioned in 1956. Today it is the only ferrous metallurgy factory in Central Asia working with scrap metal.

The company's authorized capital is 45.314 billion soum. Some 71.91 percent of its shares are owned by the state, 10 percent by the labor collective and 2.65 percent by minority shareholders.

The Uzbek National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity, Promavtoinvesttorg, Navoi and Almalyk also own shares.
