Azerbaijan suspends 20 licenses for production of alcoholic beverages

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture suspended 20 licenses issued to 11 legal entities for the production of ethyl alcohol and alcoholic beverages for nine months, Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abbasov said.

He said that these measures taken because legal entities failed to fulfill annual production volumes required by the law.

Some legal entities were also warned.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the additional conditions permitting the production, importation and sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products. The company can get a license with an annual volume of production of ethyl alcohol (more than 80 percent alcohol concentrate) not less than 100,000 gallon, ethyl alcohol (from less than 80 percent alcohol concentrate), brandy alcohol (from grapes) - not less than 5,000 gallon; rough alcohol (from grapes and other fruits) - 20,000 gallon; vodka - 100,000 gallon; wines (from grapes and fruit) - 20,000 gallon, brandy - 10,000 gallon, liqueurs and other alcoholic beverages - not less than 28 percent of alcohol - 30,000 gallon; champagne (foaming and sparkling) - 150,000 gallons.
