Iran to modernize customs system

Modernization of Iranian customs system is the priority, the head of Customs Administration said, the IRIB website reports.

Creation of a computerized system will allow to make Iranian customs process streamlined, the Customs Administration head Abbas Memarnejad stated.

The Customs Administration started the process of computerization its operations last year (Iran's solar year ended on March 19) and will expand its plan in the coming months.

Once modernizing of the system is finished, customs can use the technology at its disposal to speed up its process for reputable importers and exporters. That, in turn, will help the country's businesses and economy Memarnejad said.

Creating a unified customs service, transparent rules and regulations, new management practices and a professional workforce are the most important indicators of a new, modern service.
