Uzbekiston Havo Yullari ups passenger transportation by 17 per cent

Uzbekistan Airways (Uzbekiston Havo Yullari) increased passenger transportation by 17.1 per cent to 1.244 million passengers in the first half-year compared to the same period of 2011, the airline reported.

Passenger transportation to the CIS countries increased by 21.3 per cent up to 591,000, far overseas countries - 11 per cent up to 360,000 and on domestic airlines - 16.8 per cent up to 293,000.

In the first half-year, the airline reduced the volume of freight traffic in view of paid baggage and postal transportation by 17.4 per cent - up to 20,754 tons. The volume of cargo transportation to long haul overseas countries decreased by 25.4 per cent - to 15,556 tons.

Cargo transportation to the CIS countries increased by 27.6 per cent - up to 4,071 tons and on domestic airlines - by 18.4 per cent.

Uzbekistan Airways carried out 12,339 flights in January-June 2012, which is 419 more than the previous year.

Uzbekistan Airways is the state owned monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan. The fleet includes 27 western aircraft, including nine Boeing (four Boeing 767-300 and five Boeing 757-200), three Airbus A310, 10 Airbus A320-200, three medium-RJ-85, and two cargo A300 -600F planes.

Uzbekistan Airways carries out flights to 21 cities throughout Europe, America, the Middle East, Asia and 22 cities in the CIS countries and on 11 routes on domestic airlines.

In 2011 the airline increased its passenger transportation by 7.2 per cent compared to 2010 - up to 2.322 million passengers with cargo transportation- 5.1 per cent - up to 48,200 tons.
