Arable land area in Kazakhstan’s southern region expands

The area of ​​agricultural arable land in the South Kazakhstan region (SKR) expanded by 30,000 hectares in 2017 as compared to 2016, Head of the Regional Department of Land Relations Suzakbai Abdikulov said at a press conference in the Regional Communications Service, the local executive body said in a message.

The total land fund of the region amounts to 11.7 million hectares. The extent of agricultural land reaches 6.6 million hectares and arable land 939,000 hectares.

The regional land commission approved 95 projects in 2017, granting 1.9 million hectares of land to 90 agricultural entrepreneurs.

South Kazakhstan remains one of the regions of the country with highest level of agricultural production.
