Kazakh region eyes to harvest over 5M tons of grain

There are plans to harvest over 5 million tons of grain in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan, the regional administration said in a message Aug. 16.

A total of 4.7 million hectares of spring crops will be harvested, including 4.3 million hectares of grain crops, 279,000 hectares of oilseed crops, 174,400 hectares of forage crops, 17,900 hectares of potatoes and 4,100 hectares of other vegetables.

“As part of diversification in the region, the sowing volumes of priority crops in the area of ​​400,000 hectares have been significantly increased in recent years,” the message said. “This year alone, the sowing of these crops has been increased by 150,000 hectares compared to last year.”

There are plans to use about 8,500 combine harvesters, including 3,300 units of high-performance machinery, 2,500 reapers and more than 4,700 cars during the harvesting of this year.

“Attention is also paid to the renewal of the machine and tractor fleet,” the message noted. “More than 2,000 units of high-performance equipment have been purchased by the agricultural plants of the region over the past 3 years. This equipment includes 816 combine harvesters, 915 tractors and 284 sowing complexes. It is projected that 160,000 hectares will be processed daily during the harvesting.”
