Azerbaijan implementing business project with assistance of SECO

Implementation of a project aimed at developing women’s entrepreneurship has started in Azerbaijan with financial support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Head of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan Sakina Babayeva told Trend.

She noted that the project’s total cost is 120,000 manats.

“The project is being financed by the Association and SECO, which will contribute equal shares provided for the implementation of this project,” she said. “The project is designed for nine months. This is a regional project and will be implemented in Tovuz district.”

She noted that the starting amount of capital provided for women entrepreneurs will start from 1,500 manats.

“The project is aimed at opening small facilities in the selected district,” Babayeva said. “In general, it is planned to open 12 facilities in Tovuz, mainly in the field of agriculture.”

The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan was established with the support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan in October 2017.

Over 143,000 women are engaged in business activity in Azerbaijan, according to the statistics.
