According to the decree of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev adopted on October 2, the privileges for importing expensive foreign cars, introduced on January 1, 2019, is canceled since 2020, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
Thus, as before, the procedure for calculating the duty is set in accordance with the volume of the engine.
The privilege introduced since January 2019 was provided for the import of cars worth more than $ 40,000, the date of issue of which was no later than two years. In addition, a zero rate of import customs duty and an excise tax of 20 percent were applied to such vehicles.
From January 1, 2020, these benefits are no longer valid.
Along with this, the import of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan will begin to be taxed. Since January 1, 2019, a zero rate has been set for the import of electric vehicles. Since January 1, 2020, a duty of 10 percent of the customs value has been established.
