Contract on bi-fuel cars signed in Iran

National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company and Iran Khodro Car Manufacturing Company signed a contract on the provision of over 1.5 million bi-fuel cars in Iran.

The agreement was signed by Executive Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company Amir Vakilzadeh and Executive Director of Iran Khodro Car Manufacturing Company Farshad Moghimi, Trend reports referring to Shana.

In accordance with the agreement, over 1.5 million taxis, van and other passenger cars will be converted into bi-fuel vehicles.

Moreover, the special attention will be paid to the production of bi-fuel trucks, taxis, vans and pickup trucks.

The funds worth 65 trillion rials (approximately $1.54 billion) will be allocated for production over 1.5 million bi-fuel pickup trucks, taxis, van and other passenger vehicles, Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company Alireza Sadeqabadi said.

On Nov. 15, 2019, the price of gasoline sold on quota increased from 10,000 rials (23 cents) to 15,000 rials (35 cents) and the price of gasoline sold free from the quota increased to 30,000 rials (71 cents) in Iran.

After an increase in gasoline prices in Iran, a number of vehicle owners have asked for the conditions to be created for using bi-fuel vehicles.
