Exports from Iran's Golestan Province decline

The exports from the Golestan Province (northeastern Iran) decreased by 19 percent in terms of value and 25 percent in terms of volume in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), said Ebrahim Hosseini, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office, Trend reports citing Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The director general stressed that 266,000 tons of goods worth about $113 million were exported from Golestan Province in the last Iranian year.

“The exported goods from the province were mainly cheese, dates, polystyrene, tomatoes, iodine, pistachios and cement, etc. These goods were mainly exported to Iraq, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Uzbekistan and Russia,” he added.

Hosseini noted that moreover, 12,200 tons of goods worth $28.6 million were imported to Iran in the last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 60 percent in terms of value and 75 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding Iranian year.

The director general said that the imported goods were mainly certain equipment, fabric, generator, crude soybean oil and so on. These goods were mainly imported from Turkey, China, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Denmark, Russia, Vietnam, Greece, Tajikistan, Spain, Germany and Taiwan.

According to him, the customs revenues of the Golestan Province amounted to 216 billion rials (about $5.16 million).
