Exports from Iran's Golestan Province rise

The exports from the Golestan Province (northeastern Iran) increased by 70 percent in terms of value and 57 percent in terms of volume in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, said Ebrahim Hosseini, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office, Trend reports citing Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to the director general, 49,100 tons of goods worth $12 million were exported from Golestan Province during the reporting month.

“The main exported goods were polystyrene, cheese, dates, pistachios, cement, potatoes and iodine. These products were mainly exported to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan,” he added.

Hosseini noted that moreover, 162,000 tons of goods worth $905,000 were imported to Golestan Province within the 1st month of the current Iranian year. The imports decreased by 50 percent in terms of value and 76 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.

The director general said that Iran mainly imported stabilizers, fabrics and so on. These goods were imported from China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Poland and Vietnam.

Hosseini stressed the customs revenues of Golestan Province amounted to about 18 billion rials (about $428,000) in first month. This is an increase of 239 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
