Georgia needs a new program from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said Finance minister Lasha Kutsishvili, Trend reports via Georgian media.

According to him, the preparatory work for the program with the IMF is already underway.

"The launch of the fund program has its procedures. I can confirm that these procedures have already started," the finance minister said.

The President of the National Bank Koba Gvenetadze, said that the work on the new program with the IMF would start at the end of this year.

"The IMF's program is very important because it makes an impartial assessment of the reforms and economic developments that are taking place in the country. The IMF's assessment is very important for donors, as well as investors”, said Gvenetadze.

Meanwhile, the current program with the International Monetary Fund was completed in early 2021.
