Azeri gov’t considers feasibility study of Alat-Astara highway construction and reconstruction

The Azerbaijani government are reviewing the feasibility study of the project reconstruction and construction of the Alat-Astara highway, the Transport Ministry told Trend.

In compliance with the document, the route became shorter 50km and its length is 192km. The document was developed by the Ministry at the expense of the ADB grant of $750,000. At present work over the announcement of tender for selection of consultant in charge of delivery of services in designing of the document.

$400m is required for the implementation of the projects. The World Bank will allot $300m of the budget Azerbaijan expects the credit will be approved shortly with respect to set up construction work from April 2006.

The Alat-Astara highway is part of the Baku-Iranian border highway with the length of 313km.
