Number of Unemployed Reduced in Azerbaijan in February, 2007

Khalilova / According to the State Statistics Committee, to March 1, 2007, a total of 53.441 persons had been officially registered as unemployed ones in the country, with 2.138 receiving the state dole. Throgh February, 2007, the number of unemployed persons reduced by 0.4 percent.

In the reporting period, the number of able-bodied citizens of the country was 4.269.000 people, with 33.6 percent out of them worked for a wage. 19.9 percent out of those who work for a wage are engaged in the sphere of material production, with 13.3 percent out of them - in industry, 4.3 percent - in construction sector, 2.3 percent - in agriculture, forestry, and fishery. In the non-production sector of the economy of the country, 25.8 percent of employees are concentrated in the sphere of education, 20.2 percent - in wholesale, retail sale, car service, and service of home appliances and things of private use, 10.3 percent - in health care and protection, and social services, 7 percent - in transport and telecommunications, 5.8 percent - in communal, housing, and social sphere, as well as personal services, 4.5 percent - in operations with immovable property, rent, and lease, 4.4 percent - in the field of state governing and defence, and 2.1 percent falling at other spheres.

Today, the average amount of the dole is AZN 61.9 or 38.2 percent out of the average monthly salary of those who work for a wage in February, 2007.
