More than 1.9mn tons of oil products transshipped via SOCAR's Black Sea terminal in Kulevi

By the end of this year, the volume of transshipment of oil cargo through Azerbaijan Kulevi Black Sea oil terminal in Georgia will exceed two million tons, a source on the oil and gas market said on Nov. 18. The owner of the oil terminal in Georgia is SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan).

"Presumably the volume of oil cargo, which will be transshipped through the terminal by the end of this year, will be about 2.1 million tons," said the source.
As the source said, up to now, the terminal has transshipped more than 1.9 million tons of oil cargo. Another source in SOCAR mentioned earlier that in 2008 approximately 1.5 million tons of oil cargo was transshipped through the terminal of SOCAR in Kulevi.

The terminal in Kulevi was put into operation in May last year, actual transshipment of oil products started in June.

Oil terminal in Kulevi was put into operation last summer. The total capacity of the terminal is 10 million tons of oil per year, including three million tons of oil, three million tons of diesel fuel, four million tons of fuel oil. The terminal can accommodate up to 168 tank-cars. The total volume of the tank capacity is 320,000 cubic meters. Within two years, the capacity of the terminal is planned to be increased to 15-20 million tons.
