SOCAR conducts engineering-geological operations in Russian sector of Caspian Sea

SOCAR's department on geophysics and geology contract completed engineering-geological drilling on the structures "Sarmatskaya" and "Korchaginl" located in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea within one month, SOCAR said.

"Work on these structures is completed. Z. Veliyev ship returns," the source said.

He said that during the year, these operations will be held several times. Upon returning geologists and geophysicists will work on the structures in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

According to a report posted on the website of the department, the work was carried out from the drilling vessel "Z. Veliyev" by the department of complex exploration and topography of the department on geophysics and geology.

SOCAR periodically provides drilling services for other Caspian countries under contracts on a commercial basis.

The purpose of the geotechnical studies is integrated study of the underwater topography and the upper part of the section and other data on the areas of the installation of hydraulic structures (fixed offshore platforms, drilling rigs).
