MRK-Engineering Ltd of Russia ahs concluded construction of a gas pipeline in Turkmenistan with the cost of over $176 million, a source at country oil industry reported.

The State Concern Turkmengas acted as a major contractor, which is charged to pay off all expenses for realization of the project under the presidential decree.

The new line lies from the fields in the Central Karakum to a gas condensate station in Yilanli, connected with the Central Asia - Center highway, which supplies Turkmen gas to Russian gas giant Gasprom via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Russia purchases major volumes of export gas from Turkmenistan.

Recently, industrial flow of gas and gas condensate with a daily debit of over 200,000 cubic meters was achieved while testing one of exploration wells on the South Gutliyanag fields, located in the Central Karakum, approximately 110 kilometers of northwest Ashgabat.

Opening a new hydrocarbon field considerably expanded the oil and gas potential of the Central Akarakum and concretely, Prekopetdag lowland. Turkmen specialists believe the successful commencement of exploration work will enable to say that the South Gutliyanag is a huge gas condensate field.

The discharge capacity of the new gas pipeline will comprise three billion cubic meters of gas a year.
