Azerbaijan to reduce emissions of associated gas to zero

Over the next five years, emissions of associated gas on oil and gas fields of Azerbaijan will be brought to zero level, the head of the ecology department of the Cabinet of Ministers Ilyas Alizadeh said in Baku at the international conference on emissions.
He said in January 2011, emissions of associated gas in Azerbaijan amounted to 10 million cubic meters per day, and in May, this figure dropped to eight million cubic meters per day.
At present, the emissions of associated gas on the Guneshli field decreased by 310 million cubic meters per year, on the Oil Rocks field, this figure will be reduced by 200 million cubic meters.
Today Baku hosts international conference on presenting to the countries of Europe and Central Asia Azerbaijan's experience as part of the Global Partnership to reduce firing of associated gas, in which the leading role is played by SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and the World Bank (WB).
