Iran discovers oil field with 1 billion barrels of crude

Iran has discovered a new big oil field in Asaluyyeh region, reported Mehr News Agency.

The oil reservers of Khayyam field are estimeted at one billion barrel of crude.

Iran discovered Khayyam field with 260 billion cubic meters of gas and 218 million barrels of condensate last year. The recent exploration revealed that this field contains about one BBL of oil, too.

Khayyam field can produce 100 million barrels of condensate and 210 billion cubic meters of gas with the overall cost of $50 billion.

Iranian Oil Minstry announced earlier that country's producible proved oil reserves reach 155 billion barrels, whereas BP's June statistics indicated Iran's proved oil reserves were about 137 BBL until the end of 2010.

Iran is the world's third biggest oil holder following Saudi (with 264.5 BBL) and Venezuela (with 211.2 BBL).
