The discovery of new fields in Azerbaijan will more strengthen its positions in the world as a gas country, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev told media.
After "Shah Deniz" field was discovered, Azerbaijan has become known worldwide as a country with large gas reserves. Azerbaijan is a country with large gas reserves. It is confirmed by "Umid" field discovered last year and "Absheron" field discovered this year.
It was announced about the discovery of the new big gas field Absheron in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
The field's potential reserves hit 350 billion cubic meters of gas and 45 million ton of condensate. Accordingly, Azerbaijan's proven gas reserves rose to 2.55 trillion cubic meters, he said.
