Kazakhstan, Astana, September 18/ Trend, D. Mukhtarov /

The issue of construction of the forth refinery in Kazakhstan is still in the discussion stage, Kazakhstan's Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbay Karabalin told Trend after the press-conference in Central Communication Service.

"The issue of a new refinery is in the stage of discussions, as currently, three plants operate in the republic and they are in the modernization stage. After its completion, the refineries will be able to cover the demands of the domestic market. The construction of the fourth plant is planned for the future - with growth in market's demands," the minister said.

According to him, there are no precise instructions for the location of the new plant.

"We will view the whole complex of enterprises which will emerge within the state program of forced industrial-innovative development, which will include a wide concentration of projects. Logically, it is possible to place the refinery there," Karabalin said.

According to the minister, it is necessary to develop a concept for the future plant.
.

"The construction takes a lot of time itself, thus, this is a project for the future," he said.

Earlier, Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev said that an agreement on construction of a refinery in Kazakhstan was reached during negotiations with Chinese president Xi Jinping.
