SOCAR increases payments to Azerbaijan state budget by over 15 per cent

In January-November 2013 the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) made contributions to the state budget worth 1.49 billion manat, which is 188.51 million manat (15.5 per cent) more than the same period of 2012, SOCAR said on Dec.16.

In 2012, SOCAR contributed over 1.4 billion manat to the state budget, which is almost 90 million manat (6.7 per cent) more than the figures for 2011.

According to the SOCAR, in January-November, SOCAR transferred 147.77 million manats to the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) of Azerbaijan, or 2.2 per cent more than in January-November last year.

In total, last year SOCAR transferred 157.5 million manat to State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) that is by almost 23 million manat or 17.1 per cent, more compared to 2011.

SOCAR includes Azneft (enterprises for oil and gas production onshore and offshore), Azerikimya (enterprises of chemical industry) and Azerigaz (gas distribution enterprises) production associations.

The company is the only producer of oil products in the country (it has two refineries on its balance), and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland.

SOCAR is the co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim.

The official exchange rate for Dec.17 is 0.7844 AZN/USD.
