Iran to invest $83bn in gas grid by 2025

Iran plans to invest $83 billion to construct new pipelines inside the country by the end of 2025, an official document, prepared by Oil Ministry said.

Some $27 billion of the mentioned figure would be invested in contribution and the remained value would be spent in transition projects, according to the document, seen by Trend on April 19.

Currently, about 33,000 km of gas pipeline as well as 73 gas compressor stations - operated by National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC)- exists in Iran.

Iran plans to increase the length of the national gas network to 61,000 km by 2025, according to the NIGC's official statistics.

The number of gas compressor stations is also expected to reach 136.
