Gazprom, Uzbekneftegaz ink addendum on Shakhpakhty gas field PSA

Russian Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz signed an additional agreement on continuing cooperation in gas production at the Shakhpakhty field in Ustyurt plateau of Uzbekistan until 2024, the press service of the Russian company stated in its message.

The agreement has been achieved within the framework of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum held on May 24-26.

The message further read that the addendum No.2 to the Production Sharing Agreement on development of the Shakhpakhty gas field has been signed by Chairman of the Board of the Gazprom PJSC Vitaly Markelov and Chairman of the Board of the Uzbekneftegaz JSC Alisher Sultanov.

Uzbekneftegaz is currently the main partner of Gazprom in production of natural gas in Uzbekistan. In 2017, the volume of supply of Uzbek gas to Russia amounted to 5.5 billion cubic meters.

Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz signed an agreement on the main principles of geological exploration of the subterranean blocks of the Ustyurt region of the republic in 2006. In 2017, the companies signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.

Shakhpakhty is the largest gas condensate field in Uzbekistan, discovered in 1962, during the Soviet times.
