Iran's Shahid Soleimani TPP increases output potential

The electricty generation potential of the Shahid Soleimani Thermal Power Plant in the Kerman Province (southeastern Iran) has increased by 160 megawatts, Executive Director of Kerman Regional Electric Company, Kaveh Karimi said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

Karimi said that the main reason for the increase was the increase of the number of gas turbines at the station which led to savings of 85 million euros.

Karimi added that Shahid Soleimani thermal power plant has 8 gas units and 4 steam units. At present, the electricity output of the thermal power plant amounts 1,912 megawatt hours.

According to the director, Iran's Shahid Soleimani TPP generated 3.57 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during first 4 months of current Iranian year (March 20-July 21, 2020). This is an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

During this period, 63 percent of electricity was generated by gas units and 37 percent by steam units.
