STAR refinery's crude oil imports for August disclosed

The STAR oil refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Turkey imported 825,625 tons of crude oil in August 2020 as compared to 841,986 tons in the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The refinery exported 98,792 tons of diesel fuel in August 2020, the report says.

The EPDK report shows that STAR refinery produced 577,304 tons and 7,342 tons of diesel fuel and jet fuel, respectively, In addition, during this period, the refinery produced 12,388 tons of intermediate products, 20,097 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 99,234 tons of naphtha and other products.

The STAR refinery’s opening ceremony took place on October 19, 2018 in Izmir, Turkey. Its refining capacity is 10 million tons of crude oil per year.

The STAR refinery, which has been equipped with the most modern technologies, is capable of processing more than 100 types of oil.

Earlier, Head of the SOCAR Turkey Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit and General Manager of Petkim Anar Mammadov said that the investment value of STAR Refinery will reach approximately $7 billion.

STAR Refinery is making $ 1.5 billion worth contribution per year to reduce the current account deficit in Turkey, he noted.
