The head of the cabinet of the European Commissioner for Energy Stefano Grass noted the need to study the issue of resuming dialogue on the energy between the European Union and Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Dunyo news agency.

Head of the Mission of Uzbekistan to the European Union, Ambassador Dilyor Khakimov held a videoconference with the head of the Cabinet of the European Commissioner for Energy, Stefano Grassi, during which the parties discussed the prospects for further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU in the energy sector.

The European side welcomed the positive transformations taking place in Uzbekistan and noted the decisive support of the European Union for the large-scale reforms carried out in the country.

Grassi expressed satisfaction with the active participation of European investors in the implementation of large energy projects in Uzbekistan, especially in the field of renewable energy.

Also, taking into account the importance of the energy sector for both sides, Stefano Grassi noted the need to study the issue of resuming dialogue on the energy between the European Union and Uzbekistan.

It is noted that the last dialogue in this format took place in December 2018, when representatives of the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission visited Tashkent and held talks with their Uzbek counterparts.

In addition, the European side is interested in participating in the international conference “Central and South Asia: regional interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities”, which will be held on July 15-16 in Tashkent. It was noted that the event is planned to be attended by the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis.
