Azneft Oil and Gas Production Unit of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will complete the drilling of one appraisal and one pre-drilling well in the south part of West Absheron field, the SOCAR told Trend.
The appraisal well is drilled with Absheron rig. The project depth of the well is 750 meters, while actual drilling depth ranges to 630 meters. The drilling of pre-drilling wells is carried out with Khazar drilling rig. The project depth of the well is 780 meters, while actual depth is 670 meters.
The field discovered is efficient for development, which is explained with its location near to the coast, as well as the existing oil transportation communications. At present delimitation and estimation of the reserves in this part of the field is underway.
By the end of the year the SOCAR intends to install a production platform in the south of West Absheron field. It will be placed in coastal zone in a distance of 40-50 meters of the shore. According to specialists, the estimated reserves of the field constitute approximately 1.5 million tons of equivalent fuel.
