Azerbaijan sees decrease in investments in fixed assets since early 2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17

Around 660 million manat ($388.2 million) was directed to fixed assets in Azerbaijan from foreign enterprises and organizations from January through February 2021, Trend reports with reference to a report of the State Statistical Committee.

According to the report, the given figure decreased by 19.5 percent year on year.

As reported, 97.5 percent, or 643.4 million manat ($378.4 million), of funds directed to fixed assets from foreign countries and international organizations fell on investors from Turkey, Russia, the UK, the US, Norway, Japan, India, Malaysia, and Iran.

Totally, 1.34 billion manat ($788.2 million) was directed to the fixed capital from all financial sources for the development of the socio-economic sphere of Azerbaijan during the first 2 months of 2021. Of these, 1.07 billion manat ($629.4 million), or 80 percent of the funds, was spent on production areas, 146.8 million manat (11 percent) - for service areas, 120.4 million manat or $70.8 million (9 percent) - for the construction of houses.

In 2020, over 17 billion manat ($10 billion) was directed to the development of the socio-economic sphere of Azerbaijan last year from all financial sources, which is 8.3 percent less than in 2019.
