Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 November / corr Trend S.Babayeva / "The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies will finish the second stage of Electronic Shamakhi project, including creation of NGN network (Next Generation Network)," Muhammad Mammadov, head of Aztelekom said.
"Presently, we offer broadband services to our telephone subscribers. These services are base of the second stage of project," Mammadov said.
In 2007, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies realized the first stage of electronic Shamakhi project, as a microlevel model of Electronic Shamakhi state project.
Aim of the project is to reconstruct communication in Shamakhi on the basis of NGN technology, which is accessible in the centre and 23 villages of the region.
Presently, all residents of the region have an opportunity to use IP- telephony, Internet, TV and Data Services. Necessary equipment of Slovenian Iskratel company was installed in all village ATEs and central ATE of Shamakhi.
Cost of the project is not disclosed.
NGN ( the network of subsequent generation) is a universal multi-purpose network, intended for
transmission of speech, pictures and data, using commutation of packages. NGN network provides quality of service, necessary for various types of telecommunication traffic. Introduction of this technology will enable telephone subscribers to use such services as VoIP- telephony, voice mail, services of transmission of data, multimedia services, virtual private networks, uniform exchange of messages, momentary exchange of messages, services of a system of interactive voice answer, interactive games, videoconferences and home manager.
"The project is a base to realize the Electronic Government project in the region. We created infrastructure, but other issues should be solved by various organizations, which introduce required services and systems," head of Aztelekom said.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies intends to introduce the same services in country's other regions.
