Azerbaijani State Operator to Introduce CDMA Countrywide by End of 2009

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 November / Trend corr. S.Babayeva/ Aztelekom production association of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication & IT will introduce Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) services all over the country by the end of 2009, said Aztelekom chairman Mahammad Mammadov.

"We will increase CDMA numbers by 80,000 by the end of next year," said Mammadov.

According to the Aztelekom chairman, a great advantage of this system is that it makes installation of telephones in remote villages much cheaper.

CDMA Aztelekom services are available in 22 regions in Azerbaijan, including Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. The number of CDMA Aztelekom subscribers totals 12,000.
