Results of the Global Software Survey will be made public in the near future, International Data Corporation (IDC) Regional Manager for Central Asia and Azerbaijan Andrew Beklemishev told Trend.

According to Beklemishev, specific data cannot yet be made public due to the fact that the work is carried out jointly with Business Software Alliance (BSA).

Speaking about the IT market in general, a lot depends on the macroeconomic situation and oil, he noted.

"On the one hand, the oil price plays a key role in all developing countries and determines a lot. Secondly, if the government continues to follow the path of the economic diversification and looks towards the digital economy, then there will certainly be huge growth and demand for supply of various IT solutions, which will create a strong foundation for the local IT industry, " Beklemishev said.

Previously, Microsoft Azerbaijan stated that work to combat piracy in the software market of Azerbaijan was strengthened.

According to the 2016 BSA Global Software Survey, the commercial value of unlicensed software in Azerbaijan was $90 million in 2015, which is $13 million less than in 2013. This indicator for the world declined from $62.7 billion in 2013 to $52.2 billion in 2015 .

The level of distribution of pirated software in Azerbaijan in 2015 was 1 percent less than in 2013 and amounted to 84 percent. In general, over the recent years there has been a steady improvement in the situation in Azerbaijan. In 2009, the level of piracy was 88 percent, in 2011 - 87 percent and in 2013 - 85 percent.
