Large International Satellite Organizations Take Interests in Azerbaijani Satellite Project

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Babayeva / Gulam Abdullayev, a senior consultant of Department for Co-ordinating State enterprises of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications Azerbaijan.

Talks are being carried out with Intelsat, Eutelsat and Intersputnik, who will submit their proposals to develop a satellite and its placement in the orbit. The process in which repliesare receivedand the recommendations from satellite organizations to coordinate the technical details is underway. "Although our project has not attracted claims from anyone, we have three months, during which all appeals will have been formed and later submitted to the International Union of Electron Communications," Abdullayev noted.

ITU has adopted Azerbaijan's proposals and distributed them internationally.

Abdullayev stated that the actual work will take between 3 to 7 years and the launching of the satellite will also take a similar period of time.

The financial source of the project which is estimated at $80-100mln is still to be defined.
