Milestone in Uzbek tourism industry: e-visas introduced

Uzbekistan has launched system for issuing electronic tourist visas since July 15, 2018, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan announced.

This system cancels the procedure for compulsory application of foreign citizens to diplomatic missions, consular offices of Uzbekistan abroad for the registration of an entry tourist visa.

An electronic visa is issued to a foreign citizen for a single stay in the territory of Uzbekistan for a period of 30 days. An electronic visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

Applications for registration and issuance of an electronic visa will be processed within two working days, excluding the day of filing.

The issued electronic visa is sent to the e-mail address of the foreign citizen indicated at the time of the application.

The application for processing an electronic visa must be submitted not less than three working days before the planned date of the trip to the country.

The amount of the consular fee for processing the application for issuing an electronic entry visa is $20. Payment is carried out electronically through international payment systems. In case of refusal to issue an electronic visa, the amount of the consular fee is not refundable.

An electronic visa is not attached to the travel document (passport). Foreign citizens must provide the electronic visa in paper or electronic form at the border crossing point.

Since July 15, Uzbekistan has also adopted the procedure of visa-free entry, temporary stay and departure from Uzbekistan through the checkpoints at the international airports of the country for citizens of 101 states, passing in-transit through the territory of Uzbekistan for a period of not more than five days.
