A new station of the purple line of Baku Metro with the code name B-3, on Jeykhun Salimov Street, next to the Central Military Hospital, will be opened during 2020, spokesman of the Baku Metro CJSC Bakhtiyar Mammadov told Trend, commenting on the issue regarding the plans of the Baku Metro for next year.
Mammadov said that the main construction work at the subway station has been completed, and the work has begun related to the infrastructure of the station, escalators are being installed.
“The new purple line station will have three levels, with 17 escalators and elevators for passengers with disabilities,” the spokesman noted.
Mammadov added that at the new station, trains will be able to switch from one track to another, and this will enable a circular movement.
“This will allow us to create a convenient train schedule, which will lead to an increase in trains along the purple line, starting from the Avtovagzal subway station to the new station with the code name B-3,” said the spokesman.
The third, “purple” line of Baku Metro, with a length of 2.2 kilometers and so far consisting of two stations - “Avtovagzal” and “Memar Ajami-2”, was opened April 19, 2016.
In total, there are plans to build 12 stations on the line. All stations on the third line, unlike the stations of the other two lines, are capable of receiving trains of seven railcars.
The Baku Metro has 25 stations, one electric depot and three lines, with a total length of 36.6 kilometers.
In accordance with the "Conceptual Scheme for the Development of the Baku Metro Lines", the metro will consist of 76 stations, six electric depots and five lines (three existing - green, red and purple lines and two additional ones - blue and yellow) with a length of 119.1 kilometers in the future.
That is, 51 stations and two new metro lines with a length of 84.3 kilometers are to be built.
