Port of Baku expanding co-op with Turkmen, Kazakh ports

Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC (Baku Port) is expanding cooperation with the ports of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing Baku Port.

Chief of the Port Operations Department of the Baku Port CJSC, Eugene Seah, took part in the World Maritime Week 2020 online event, which brought together more than 1,000 experts.

During the meeting, it was noted that the introduction of the management system by the Baku Port on the web-based ‘Port Community System’ is nearing completion.

“The system will allow the port’s employees, customs and border services, logistics companies to quickly exchange information. In the second stage, operating systems will be integrated with the main trading partners of the port in the Caspian region - the ports of Turkmenbashi, Aktau, and Kuryk, and the exchange of relevant information will be provided online,” the message said.

The Baku Port said that it is implementing this project jointly with OSCE.

Baku International Sea Trade Port is closely cooperating with the EU on improving the operational efficiency of port management and risks. The Port of Baku, which is ISO 9001: 2015, OHSAS: 18001 and ISO: 14001 certified, is implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in its business processes and operations.
