Passenger transportation volumes plummet in Kazakhstan over 10M2020

A total of 362.003 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in Oct. 2020, which is 82.5 percent less than in Oct. 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over nine months of 2020 amounted to 7.6 billion people, which is 61.1 percent less year-on-year compared to 19.6 billion over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported in Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the region amounted to 105.007 million people in October and 1.7 billion people over ten months of 2020, which is 79.3 percent and 62 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Pavlodar region with 35.2 million people transported in Oct. 2020 (decrease of 66.1 percent compared to Oct. 2019). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 506.8 million people, which compared to 1.02 billion during the same period last year, indicates a 50.4 percent decrease.

East Kazakhstan region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in Oct. 2020 (33.5 million people, down by 75.5 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over ten months of 2020 amounted to 656.7 million, which is 54 percent less than during the same period last year (1.4 billion people).

The least passenger volume was transported in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 1.3 million passengers in Oct. 2020, which is 83.2 percent less than in Oct. 2019. The volume of passengers transported over ten months of 2020 was 28.3 million, which is 61.7 percent less year-on-year.
