Uzbekistan’s largest share of transportation and storage in GDP falls on road transport

The share of transportation and storage in the GDP (gross domestic product) of Uzbekistan from January through March 2021 amounted to 6.7 percent, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the largest share in the structure of GDP of the transportation and storage industry fell on road transport amounting to 58.5 percent, while during the same period last year it accounted for 53.1 percent.

At the same time, the share of pipeline transport during the reporting period amounted to 17.4 percent (18.5 percent in 3M2020), railway transport - 12.2 percent (12.9 percent), auxiliary transport activities - 9.5 percent (9.9 percent), air transport - 2.4 percent (5.6 percent) of the total value added of this industry.

In April, State Statistics Committee reported that the GDP of Uzbekistan in 1Q2021 increased by three percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the committee, inflation rates continue to slow down in Uzbekistan - the growth in prices in 1Q2021 amounted to 2.5 percent, while in the same period in 2020 it accounted for 2.8 percent.

Also, it was noted that the main driver of inflation in Uzbekistan is the rise in prices for food products with an increase of 3.1 percent compared to December 2020, however, a slowdown was registered in comparison with the same period last year (by 4.3 percent in 3M2020).
