Kazakhstan has announced the “red level” of terrorist threat in the city of Almaty, the Almaly District Interior Department said in a message July 18.
“We call on all residents and visitors to strictly comply with the requirements stipulated in case of the above-mentioned level,” the message said.
The Kazakh media reported about a shooting near the Almaly District Interior Department in the center of Almaty July 18 morning.
The “red level” of terrorist threat is the most severe one. It permits the law enforcement to carry out body searches, inspect belongings, vehicles, as well as temporarily restrict or prohibit vehicles’ movement.
The “red level” also permits law enforcement to freely enter residential and other premises.
Information transmission through telecommunication channels may also be monitored.
The “red level” also stipulates a full mobilization of all the security services, stepping up measures during inspections at airports, sea and river ports, metro facilities, railway stations and bus stations.
