Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, August 22 / Trend H. Hasanov /

Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plan Group (ChelPipe) which is one of the largest companies manufacturing pipe products in Russia, completed a shipment of large diameter pipes for the construction of the third stage of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline, the company said.

The pipeline started operating in 2009 and according to the project, is intended to supply Turkmen gas to China through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Currently work is being conducted to increase the pipeline's strength.

According to the information, the total supply under this project constituted 130, 000 tons pipes with a diameter of 1219 millimetres with an internal and external three-layer anti-corrosion coating. While carrying out this order some technology was improved including the modernisation of X-ray television and ultrasonic testing processes.
All products in Russia were produced under the control of Moody International's independent inspection.

Work, conducted in accordance with previously signed international agreements on a further increase of Turkmen natural gas exports to China, was discussed at a recent state meeting in Ashgabat.

In particular, it is scheduled to build a gas drying unit with the annual power of 10 billion cubic meters in the contractual territory of Bagtyyarlyk which is the resource base of the Turkmenistan- China gas pipeline. It is expected that the commissioning of the new installation will increase the volume of marketable gas coming from the Malay field to the transnational gas line to 30 billion cubic meters in a year.

According to the agreements the volume of fuel annually delivered to China will in future reach 65 billion cubic meters with the help of connecting additional communications. It was reported earlier that this autumn the first state visit of the President of PRC Xi Jinping to Turkmenistan is expected.

Currently China is in the first place in the total volume of foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan, whilst the work on expansion of the range of export and import goods continues.
