Commander of the Joint Central Command, U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Gilmary Michael Hostage held several meetings with military and civilian representatives of the Government of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan reported.

During his visit to Uzbekistan Lt. Gen. Hostage held meetings with officials from Uzbekistan and other countries, and also visited a detachment of marines, securing the U.S. Embassy.

Cooperation between the U.S. and Uzbekistan is important for the mission of both countries in combating terrorism and ensuring stability in the region, the report said.

During his stay in Uzbekistan, the U.S. general got familiar with the sights, visited museums, learned about the history and culture of the country.

Lt. Gen. Hostage controls the air operations, developes plans of action in emergency situations on the territory, covering 20 countries in South and Central Asia.
