Uzbekistan, Finland intend to accelerate cooperation

Urgent aspects of bilateral relations, including proposals to strengthen cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, have been considered by representatives of the Foreign Ministry and Finnish Ambassador in Uzbekistan Tuula Yrjölä, the Foreign Ministry said today.

Urgent aspects of bilateral relations, including proposals to strengthen cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, have been considered by representatives of the Foreign Ministry and Finnish Ambassador in Uzbekistan Tuula Yrjölä, the Foreign Ministry said today.

With possible contacts at various levels, the next Uzbek-Finnish political consultations will intensify cooperation and issues of expanding their legal framework which were previously examined in depth.

Both parties have stressed interest in increasing their bilateral trade volume and the diversification and implementation of promising investment projects in industries such as electrical, chemical, light and food industries, telecommunications and communications.

Mutual interest was stressed at the meeting to establish direct contacts between some Uzbek and Finnish universities.

It was reported that Uzbekistan is interested in joint projects with Finnish business in the production of chips and accessories for modern mobile and general telecommunications systems.

Uzbek business circles are also interested in cooperation in the wood industry, where Finland has traditionally led.
