This year, Iran's automobile exports have dropped 76.5 per cent in value compared to last year, the Iranian Students' News Agency (IRNA) reports.

Despite selling its cars for an average $5,120 which is 20 per cent less than last year, Iran continued to lose customers.

In the first 10 months of the year (Iran's solar year ends on March 20) Iran sold a little more than 14,000 cars, worth $72 million to other countries compared to nearly 48,000 autos, worth $306 million over the same time the year before.

Iraq bought almost 13,700 of the cars worth $69 million which accounts for 97 per cent of Iran's auto exports. Germany imported 164 vehicles from Iran in the last 10 months and the Western African nation of Benin bought 40.
