Iran to boost deposits in International Bank for Reconstruction and Development

Iran will increase deposits in the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) by $78.5 million, Fars news agency reported.

The Iranian parliament (Majlis) has approved a bill to raise deposits of the Islamic Republic in the IBRD by $78.5 million within 2012-2016. IBRD is one of five institutions that compose the World Bank Group.

The IBRD is an international organization whose original mission was to finance the reconstruction of nations devastated by World War II.

Now, its mission has expanded to fight poverty by means of financing states.
