For the first time in Iran, an eye surgery equipment unit has been made, ISNA reported.

The unit has been made by the Iranian researchers from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Khorasan province of Iran.

Doctor Amir Hossein Vejdani made the announcement, noting that the domestically made equipment allows to make longer, more difficult eye surgeries with much more precision.

The equipment does not lack comfort both for patient, allowing for proper placement of head and hands, but also for the doctor, having special attached table for placing necessary tools nearby.

Doctor Vejdani noted that that the equipment cost 20 million rials (over $ 16,000) to manufacture, yet this figure can drop, if there is a need for mass production of such units.

He added that it took Iranians two years to manufacture the equipment.
