Iranian Majlis ready to cooperate with IAEA: Vice-speaker

(IRNA) - Majlis First Vice-Speaker Mohammad-Reza Bahonar said here on Wednesday that the Iranian parliament was ready to provide more facilities for more inspection and cooperate with the UN nuclear watchdog to build confidence while it supports efforts adopted by the government, Trend reports.

Bahonar made the remark while addressing a Majlis open session in which he congratulated the national on Iran joining the world's nuclear club.

President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that Iran has joined the world's nuclear countries, adding that Iran has completed production of the nuclear fuel cycle on laboratory scale and produced enriched uranium with the purity needed for a nuclear power station on April 9, this year.

"This success will allow us to complete nuclear technology in the future," he said.

He expressed his felicitation to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, government, Majlis and the Iranian people on the great success.

"The Islamic Iran is still committed to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and its Safeguard and will continue nuclear research.

"All the previous processes have been carried out under surveillance of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). We are ready to hold nuclear negotiations with countries which respect our rights.

"We will not give up our efforts through threatening remarks and expect the IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei to fulfill his duties and handled Iran's sensitive nuclear case within the international system."
