Iran’s household, commercial sectors consume 41% of country’s power

Iranian household and commercial sectors consumed about 41 percent of the power generated in the country the last calendar year (started March 20, 2015), says an official.

Ahmadreza Tavakkoli, an official with the Iran Energy Efficiency Organization (SABA), said there are about 28 million consumers in the mentioned sectors that form 94 percent of the total number of power consumers in Iran, IRNA news agency reported.

The mentioned sectors consumed about 95 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, he added.

Tavakkoli also said Iran can save 20 percent of the total electricity consumed in the household and commercial sectors.

Iran's total power production capacity was 231 billion kilowatt hours in the last calendar year.
