Iran imports 1 million liters of gasoline last fiscal year

Iran’s imports of gasoline over the last fiscal year (ended March 20) surpassed one million tons.

According to the recent statistics by the country’s Customs Administration, Iran’s total imports of gasoline in the mentioned period valued $500 million, Tasnim news agency reported May 8.

Earlier on April 30, Iran inaugurated Persian Gulf Star Refinery’s first phase to produce 12 million liters of gasoline per day (ml/d).

The country hopes to become self-sufficient in gasoline production once Persian Gulf Star Refinery is fully operational.

Over the last year, Iranians consumed 74.2 million liters per day (ml/d) of gasoline, 5.1 percent more than the previous year.
