Tomato paste price hikes in Iran: Statistical Center

The highest increase in the price of food items in Iran is for tomato paste, which increased by 248.7 percent compared to corresponding month in previous year, after which banana rose 156.4 percent.

The Statistical Center of Iran announced the highest rises in the price of food items in December 2018.

"The highest price increase this month compared to last month was for cucumber (15.9 percent), onion (15.8 percent) and apple (9.5 percent). The price of orange dropped 14.0 percent," the Statistical Center of Iran said in a statement, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

“The highest price increase compared to the same month of the previous year [December 2017] was related to tomato paste with a 248.7 percent increase, followed by banana with a 156.4 percent increase and apple with a 111.0 percent increase.

“The price of red meat increased by 60 percent compared to corresponding month in previous year.”
