Iranian MPs have rejected a draft bill proposed by hardline MP Hamid Rasaei on the confiscation of the US properties in the Persian Gulf.
Hamid Rasaei proposed to confiscate US properties in the Persian Gulf in retaliation for a decision by a US court on the seizure of Iran's assets, ISNA news agency reported.
A US court ruled April 20 that $2 billion of Iranian assets frozen in a US bank account had to be turned over to the families of the American victims of a 1983 bombing in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, and other attacks blamed on Iran.
The confiscated money belongs to the Central Bank of Iran (CBI). The assets have been previously blocked under the US sanctions.
